EURES - European Employment Services
The EURES network was created to facilitate the implementation of free movement of goods, services, capital and human resources in the European Union, with due respect to policy for a balanced and long-term development. The EURES network was created to link and mobilize the public employment services of the Member States of the E.U., the European Free-Trade Zone, as well as all those who deal with employment on a national and international level.
The EURES network provides volumes of information as regards the ways one can find a job in another country, the work/employment conditions in the countries of the European Economic Space and current job demand status.
More than 500 EURES Advisers, members of public employment services, labour unions and employer associations, are available for counselling and guidance for anyone interested to work outside his/her country of origin or hire personnel from other countries of Europe.
The EURES Advisers endeavour to identify and abolish all obstacles to labour mobility by providing information about:
- social legislation - taxation - health care
- education - training opportunities
- comparability of qualifications / competences
- cost of life and housing
The General Directorate (DG) for Employment and Social Affairs is the coordinator of the network.
The Greek Manpower Employment Organization (OAED) functions as the National EURES
Agency offering expert Advisers established in the major towns of the country.
