Information Society

The policy adopted for the Information Society includes initiatives on the development of new information and communication technologies as well as initiatives on the protection of civil rights and civilians’ participation in the digital era. These technologies are a substantial tool for an open and effective governing as well as for the improvement of business competition. They develop new working methods, new skills and they contribute to the need for constant learning and adaptation of the educational system.

An independent Operational Programme (OPIS) has been induced in the 3rd Community Support Framework for the promotion of Information Society (IS). Priority is given to education and culture in the planning supplement of the operational programme. According to its aim: «the educational system should be adapted to the digital era’s requirements; an increased use of new technologies in education, a networking between schools - universities and the academic community, teacher and student training, as well as development of a digital educational content should be achieved». The Information Society Company S.A., which is supervised by the Ministry of Interior, Public Administration and Decentralization, has undertaken the support of the operational programme’s project implementation.
