Events

In the context of its role to promote coordination, strengthen cooperation and support the entities and their staff offering counselling and vocational guidance services in Greece, EKEP has organized the following conferences, meetings, seminars around Greece in cooperation with the competent bodies of the supervising Ministries of Labour & Social Affairs and National Education & Religious Affairs:

International Conference

1st International Conference: Trends in Counselling and Vocational Guidance on the eve of the 21st century, Athens, 9-11 May 2001. This conference was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs and the Ministry of National Education & Religious Affairs. The participants to this conference were from 12 member states of the European Union as well as from Canada. The purpose of the conference was to introduce EKEP to the Greek and international community, on the one hand, and identify theoretical trends as well as actions, practices and developments in the international arena with respect to counselling and vocational guidance, on the other. Approximately 900 delegates attended the conference which wrapped up its sessions with interesting conclusions and proposals for the reconstruction of related services and actions in our country. The proceedings of this conference were produced in two volumes and published in Greek and English respectively.

Pan-Hellenic Conference

A Pan-Hellenic conference entitled Career Development and Vocational Training was organized jointly with the Hellenic Society of Counselling and Guidance (He.S.Co.G.) in Athens from 30/11 to 1/12/2002.

• Meeting - Seminar entitled: Developments in education & the job market, and the need for Vocational Guidance, Heraklion-Crete, 31 March 2001. Co-organizers: Directorate of Secondary Education of Heraklion / KE.SY.P & OAED, Region of Crete (Dept. of Vocational Orientation).
• Meeting entitled: The role of Counselling and Vocational Guidance in the change over from education/training to the job market, Thessaloniki, 16 November 2001.
• Meeting entitled: Counselling and Vocational Guidance in Greek Education and Employment, Patra, 29 March 2002.
• Meeting entitled: The role of Counselling & Vocational Guidance in human resources development and enhancement of occupational possibilities, Ioannina, 25 October 2002.
• Seminar specially designed for Guidance Professionals: Cooperation of agencies providing counselling and vocational guidance services in Education and Employment, Larissa, 13 December 2002. This seminar was organized in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education & Religious Affairs and OAED.
