On a national level
On a national level, EKEP has a staff advisory and coordinating role with respect to the design and implementation of the national policy for Vocational Guidance. This role neither substitutes nor supplants the responsibilities of the Ministry of Education and those of the Pedagogical Institute, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Greek Manpower Employment Organization.
In this light, and as stipulated in the relevant Presidential Decree, the mission of EKEP is to:
- Provide scientific and technical support to the relevant bodies of the Ministry of National Education & Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in their design and implementation of a national policy for Vocational Guidance.
- Create a national network for cooperation and information dissemination with the participation of all entities active in Counselling & Vocational Orientation. EKEP will be responsible for the design, organization, operation and support of the network.
- Promote cooperation among all interesting entities and persons on issues pertaining to education, training and exchange visits among E.U. member states.
- Ensure the cohesion and complimentarity in Counselling & Vocational Guidance applications by mapping unified guidelines.
- Conduct research activities to support the national structures of educational and vocational guidance services and also meet its objectives.
- Develop activities on an international and European level to exploit information and experiences through the Network.
- Organize conferences, seminars or other events on issues of its competence with the aim to promote the european dimension in Counselling and Vocational Guidance and introduce effective models and practices in Vocational Guidance from other countries.
- Organize seminars for the training of guidance practitioners in the area of Vocational Guidance, in cooperation or complimentary with the competent bodies of the two Ministries.
- Certify the proficiency of qualifications of guidance practitioners and maintain a Register of such professionals.
