National Resource Centre for Vocational Guidance
(Euroguidance Centre of Greece)

The Legal Framework of Operations

By force of Minister of Labour decision (Protocol no. 1009/25-2-200), EKEP was appointed the National Resource Centre for Vocational Guidance (NRCVG-Greece) to represent Greece. To this end, EKEP became member of the Euroguidance Network.

The network of National Resource Centres for Vocational Guidance, or the Euroguidance Network, started its operations in 1992-93 in the context of the PETRA programme (Action III). Since 1995 the Network is funded by the European Commission through the Leonardo da Vinci programme (phase A’: 1995-1999, phase B’: 2000-2006). By supporting the Euroguidance Network, the European Commission acknowledges that the European policy for the promotion of the European dimension in education, training and employment cannot be achieved unless the European dimension is also strengthened in Counselling and Vocational Guidance at the same time. This can be achieved through the exchange of quality information about the national systems of education and training of the European countries and the encouragement and facilitation of mobility of Guidance Counsellors, trainers and trainees, the youth of Europe in general.

The Euroguidance Network comprises 65 NRCVGs established in 31 countries. These Centres operate both on a national and European level. The Network covers 25 member-states of the E.U., 3 countries of the European Economic Cooperation (Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein) and two candidate countries (Bulgaria, Rumania). In addition, Switzerland participates as a “silent” partner to the Network, in the context of the Leonardo da Vinci programme. The NRCVG Centres receive additional funding from national sources.
