Special Social Groups
The European Employment Strategy aims to reinforce policies promoting the enhancement of actions for inclusion to work of special social groups with an emphasis on equal opportunities for all. These policies are designed particularly for those at risk of social exclusion. In the context of Policy 2 of the 3rd Community Support Framework (CFS), our country is expected to “… promote equal opportunities for all, as regards access to the labour market with particular emphasis on those at risk of social exclusion”. A number of Ancillary Support Services are financed in the context of the Operational Programme “Employment & Vocational Training” carried out by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
An Ancillary Support Service is any service or group of services organized to stimulate or reinforce the individual, as well as mobilize and sensitize the entire social web, with the aim to help vulnerable social groups incorporate into society and the labour market.
The Greek Manpower Employment Organization (OAED) provides ancillary support services to vulnerable social groups through its Centres for Promotion to Employment (KPA).
Ancillary Support Services are also provided to weak social categories by other agencies and organizations. The web site of the Ministry of Labour provides a list of approved action plans aiming to promote social inclusion for the vulnerable social groups in the context of the Operational Programme mentioned above.
