TEMPUS: mobility towards the East
The Tempus program supports cooperation in higher education between the new independent states, Mongolia and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe that do not participate in the SOCRATES program.
The third stage of the program, Tempus III (2000-2006), aims at facilitating the adaptation of higher education systems to the new socio-economic and cultural requirements of the eligible countries through a balanced collaboration with partners from all Community member states.
The eligible countries are:
- The non-associated countries of Central and Eastern Europe that are eligible for the Phare program (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia)
- The countries participating in the Tacis program (Armenia, Azerbaitzan, Latvia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldavia, Russian Federation, Tatzikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia).
The program -for the achievement of its goals- provides Individual Mobility Grants (IMG) among its several activities/ actions regarding the academic and administrative personnel of AEI/ TEI (Universities/ Technological Education Institutes) of the countries that participate in the program by providing them with the opportunity to benefit from the short term mobility periods to countries of the enlarged
E.U..
Candidates should fall under one of the following categories:
- Teachers in officially recognized Universities
- Administrative servants in officially recognized Universities
- Ministries’ officials
- Education counsellors
- Post-graduate students from E.U. Partner Countries
